Pioneering Sustainable Food Production

Masii is an arid region facing severe water scarcity. This project introduces a smart, modular hydroponic system designed to ensure food security, conserve water, and empower local communities (Muga Farm).

The system operates on a closed-loop aquaponics model where nutrient-rich water from fish tanks feeds plants, and plants filter water for reuse.

This system operates on a sophisticated closed-loop aquaponics model that mimics a natural ecosystem. Nutrient-rich wastewater from fish tanks is pumped directly to plant beds; here, beneficial bacteria break down ammonia into nitrates that act as a high-grade organic fertilizer. As the plants absorb these nutrients, they naturally purify the water, which is then recirculated back to the fish tanks. This symbiotic relationship eliminates the need for chemical fertilizers and drastically reduces environmental discharge
